Wildfire Ash Clean Up

Please be careful and safe as you begin to cleanup ash that has fallen from the area wildfires. It’s important that we all takes steps to keep from further stirring up ash prolonging and impacting air quality in our region. Here's some tips for how to clean up ash safely.
 
DO NOT – Use a leaf blower to clean up ash.

DO NOT -- Wash the ash into the streets or stormwater catchbasins.

DO -- Wear NOISH N-95 masks when cleaning up wildfire ash.

DO -- Be aware that wildfire ash may contain toxic substances.

DO -- Gently sweep ash into a pile and scrape it into a plastic bag to place in your trash.

DO -- Use a vacuum equipped with a HEPA filter and disposable bag to clean up ash.

DO -- Hose or sweep the ash gently into landscape areas.

DO -- Avoid washing ash into the streets and the stormwater system.
