Xpress Bill Pay (XBP), the City's credit card payment provider, has expressed its heartfelt apologies for the continued performance issues customers are having with its online card payment website. Unfortunately, things are not fixed yet. The significant growth in the company's customer base experienced in the months leading up to the pandemic have been compounded by the high volume of online payments during the COVID-19 situation. Hardware and code modifications to its system were made by XBP in March, but these have still not kept up with the significant site usage in April. The additional hardware now needed is on backorder due to factory closures in China brought on first by the trade war, followed by COVID-19 challenges.
